Sustainability is a core value in our establishment:
From 1972 to 1974, Christa and Rudolf Menz built the house with a great deal of personal effort, following modern standards of the time. Even back then, the original four guest rooms were equipped with showers and toilets—something not yet common at the time.
Between 1984 and 1986, the house was expanded and remodeled to its current appearance. Since then, it has included ten double rooms, one single room, and two apartments.
In the fall of 1998, the heating system was upgraded to meet the modern standards of the time. From then on, the heating and domestic water systems operated sustainably, supported by a thermal solar system.
On October 1, 2002, the next generation took over: the eldest son, Christof, and his wife, Andrea, assumed management of the house and continued its operations in the same trusted manner.
Between late 2002 and 2004, a renovation added two apartments, seven double rooms, and one single room, significantly enhancing comfort. During this time, the first classifications by the DTV (German Tourism Association) awarded the apartments 4*, and the DeHoGa (German Hotel and Restaurant Association) classified the rooms with 3, ratings that have been consistently renewed to this day.
In 2006, Andrea Menz introduced the first wellness treatments at Haus Vierjahreszeiten. A year later, she completed her training as a wellness and vitality coach.
In 2007, a photovoltaic system (9.2 kW) was installed, reducing the house's electricity consumption by half.
In 2010 and 2011, further renovations gave the balcony rooms a fresh new look.
In 2012, after two and a half years of training, Andrea Menz passed her examination as a licensed naturopath and has since been treating health issues in addition to offering wellness treatments.
In June 2018, Andrea Menz attended training in Bad Homburg for pain therapy following the Liebscher & Bracht method. This shifted her focus, combining wellness treatments with therapy using osteopressure for pain relief and Reiki treatments. She continues to pursue annual training in this field.
In September 2018, a stairlift was installed, allowing guests with mobility challenges to easily access the rooms on the first floor.
Between March 2020 and spring 2022, the house underwent significant renovations: all bathrooms were modernized, two double rooms and two bedrooms in apartments were refurbished, a wooden terrace was built, and the balconies on the south and west sides were renovated.
In November 2022, another major project was completed: the conversion of the oil heating system into a modern pellet heating system, including all associated upgrades. The system continues to be supported by the thermal solar system, and the wood pellets are sourced locally from the region.
